One developer. Real code. Zero excuses.
Capital City Computing is the deliberate opposite of a "growth-stage" web agency. One developer, in Tallahassee, working directly with the people who own the business. No project managers. No offshore handoffs. No layers between you and the person writing the code.
A small business deserves a website that's fast, secure, and simple to maintain.
Most local-business websites today ship 2–4 megabytes of JavaScript so that a hairdresser in Frenchtown can show their hours of operation. CMS platforms and page builders are powerful tools, but for a five-page small-business site, they often introduce more complexity — and more ongoing cost — than the business actually needs.
That isn't necessary. The web spec didn't change. <html>, <head>, <body>. CSS for layout. A pinch of vanilla JavaScript when the page genuinely needs it. That builds a fast, secure, accessible website — often in less time and at lower ongoing cost than a CMS-based setup.
So that's what we do, and only what we do. We hand-code every site from a blank file, host it on a CDN that costs us less than a coffee per client per month, and pass the savings on as a flat $150/month subscription that includes the parts everyone else nickel-and-dimes you for.
Built like the buildings in this town. Made to outlast their owners.
Six rules. No exceptions.
These aren't aspirational values. They're the rules every site we ship has to pass before the DNS gets cut over.
Static or it didn't ship.
Every page renders as a flat HTML file before it leaves the build folder. No server to maintain, no database to back up, no admin panel to secure. If it can't be served read-only from a CDN, it doesn't go live.
Mobile is the design.
We design for a 320-pixel-wide phone first, then progressively enhance up to a 4K monitor. Not the other way around. 70% of small-business traffic is mobile; that's where the design has to be perfect.
Accessibility isn't optional.
WCAG AA from day one — semantic HTML, real alt text, keyboard-navigable, AAA color contrast where we can. About 1 in 4 visitors to a North Florida small-business site is using assistive tech, glasses, or both. We design for them too.
No script we didn't write.
Third-party JavaScript is the single largest performance and privacy liability on the modern web. We use it sparingly, audit it, and self-host whenever we can. Your users are not a tracker farm.
If it can be CSS, it is CSS.
Animations, layouts, theming, hover states, accordions, marquees — all of it lives in CSS where the browser handles it for free. JavaScript only earns its place when nothing else will do.
You own the keys.
Domain registered to you. Hosting in your name. Plan A clients receive the full source repo on delivery. Plan B subscribers earn code ownership after 18 continuous months. We're a service, not a hostage situation.
